The Ramanathaswamy Temple at Rameshwaram, on an island connected to the mainland by the Pamban Bridge, is known for its long corridors and 22 sacred wells (theerthams) where pilgrims traditionally bathe before darshan.
Significance
Rameshwaram is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites and is associated with the Ramayana as the point from which Lord Rama is believed to have built the bridge to Lanka.
How to Reach
Rameshwaram has its own railway station and is around 170 km from Madurai, which has the nearest major airport. From Shirdi, this is a long-distance trip typically planned via flight to Madurai or Chennai.
