Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga

The Vaidyanath (Baidyanath) temple at Deoghar is widely regarded as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, worshipped here as Shiva in his form as the divine physician. Parli Vaijnath in Maharashtra is also revered as a Jyotirlinga in some regional traditions.

Significance

Deoghar draws very large numbers of pilgrims, especially during the Shravan month Kanwar Yatra, when devotees carry Ganga water on foot from Sultanganj to Deoghar.

How to Reach

Deoghar has its own airport and railway station. From Shirdi, this is a long-distance trip best planned by flight.

Best Time to Visit

October to March; note that Shravan month sees extremely heavy crowds.
