Best Time to Visit Shirdi

Shirdi doesn't have an official 'closed' season — the Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir welcomes pilgrims all year — but the town's climate and crowd levels vary enough that timing your visit well genuinely improves the trip.

October to March: the most comfortable window

This is generally the most pleasant stretch, with daytime temperatures typically in the low-to-mid 20s to low 30s (°C) and cooler evenings. It's also the busiest tourist season for Maharashtra generally, so darshan queues can be longer on weekends and around festivals.

April to June: hot, but manageable early in the day

Summer in this part of Maharashtra gets genuinely hot, often crossing 38–40°C by afternoon. If you're travelling in this window, plan darshan for early morning and keep afternoon activity light. Crowds are often thinner outside the summer school-holiday weeks.

July to September: monsoon season

The monsoon brings welcome relief from the heat and green surroundings, but also intermittent heavy rain that can affect road travel to nearby destinations like Bhimashankar or Trimbakeshwar. Build extra time into your schedule if you're combining Shirdi with a hill route during this period.

Festival dates to plan around

Ram Navami, Guru Purnima and Vijayadashami (Dussehra) are the three major festivals specific to the Shirdi Sai Baba temple calendar, and each brings a significant surge in visitors. If your goal is a quieter, more contemplative visit, avoid these dates; if you want to experience the festival atmosphere, plan well ahead for accommodation and transport.

  • Ram Navami — Chaitra month (typically March–April)
  • Guru Purnima — Ashadha month (typically June–July)
  • Vijayadashami / Dussehra — Ashwin month (typically September–October)

Our take

For a first visit with flexible dates, October to February offers the best balance of comfortable weather and manageable crowds outside major festivals. Whatever window you choose, share your travel dates with our team on WhatsApp and we'll flag anything specific to that period — festival dates, expected weather, or road conditions on any add-on trips.
