Best Jyotirlinga Yatra Routes to Plan From Shirdi
Of the twelve Jyotirlingas, two (Trimbakeshwar and Bhimashankar) sit within a manageable distance of Shirdi, and three more (Grishneshwar, Aundha Nagnath and Parli Vaijnath) are elsewhere in Maharashtra — meaning five of the twelve can realistically be covered on Maharashtra-based routes without air travel.
The Maharashtra five
Trimbakeshwar and Grishneshwar are the easiest to combine with a Shirdi trip, each under 3 hours away. Bhimashankar, Aundha Nagnath and Parli Vaijnath are further out and work better as part of a dedicated multi-day Jyotirlinga circuit rather than day trips.
The remaining seven
Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar (Madhya Pradesh), Kashi Vishwanath (Uttar Pradesh), Kedarnath (Uttarakhand), Somnath and Nageshwar (Gujarat), Mallikarjuna (Andhra Pradesh), and Rameshwaram (Tamil Nadu) are all significant flights or multi-day road trips from Shirdi and are best planned as separate dedicated pilgrimages rather than extensions.
A practical approach
Rather than trying to plan all twelve at once, most travelers do well covering the Maharashtra five over one multi-day circuit, then planning separate trips for the more distant Jyotirlingas as time and season allow. Tell us which ones matter most to you and how many days you can spare, and we'll suggest a realistic grouping.
