Places to Visit Near Shirdi
Most pilgrims come to Shirdi for the Sai Baba temple, but the surrounding region has enough worth seeing that it's worth deciding in advance whether you want to extend your trip by a day or two.
Within an hour or two
Shani Shingnapur, famous for its tradition of doorless homes, is about an hour away and pairs easily with a same-day Shirdi visit. Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, roughly 1.5–2 hours away, add a Jyotirlinga temple and a lively city with river ghats to your trip.
A half-day to a full day further out
Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), around 2.5–3 hours away, opens up Bibi Ka Maqbara, Daulatabad Fort and Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga — and from there, the Ajanta and Ellora cave complexes are within reach with an extra day or two.
For travelers with more time
Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga, set inside a wildlife sanctuary in the Sahyadri hills, and the Maharashtra Shakti Peeth circuit (Tuljapur, Kolhapur, Saptashrungi, Mahur) both make sense as multi-day extensions rather than day trips, given the distances involved.
- Shani Shingnapur — approx. 1 hour
- Nashik / Trimbakeshwar — approx. 1.5–2 hours
- Aurangabad — approx. 2.5–3 hours
- Ajanta & Ellora Caves — best as a 2–3 day extension from Aurangabad
- Bhimashankar — approx. 4–5 hours
Planning your route
Rather than trying to fit everything in, tell us how many days you have and we'll suggest a realistic combination — most travelers do best picking one or two of these rather than attempting all of them in a single trip.
